FH3 Caldwell Retailed Pierced Antique Sterling Spoon

Circa 1865-1870

A superb quality antique sterling pierced gold washed spoon with cast figural handle in pristine condition. The bowl has some engraved highlights and a monogram on the reverse. Length 11 1/4". Weight 4.95 ozt. These remarkably fine castings can be found in English flatware by Francis Higgins during the same period of manufacture, and it is my opinion that the handles were imported for use here by American silversmiths.
